The Lockington Bush Nursing Centre hosted it’s final ‘Take a break’ event on Wednesday, October 15.

Carers gathered at the Lockington and District Living Heritage Complex for a chance to relax and connect with other carers.
The event was the third of the Take a Break sessions to be held, with carers coming from both Lockington and surrounding towns.

Lockington Bush Nursing Centre manager Sharon Moran said the events were only possible through the community’s trust in them.
“Thank you all for trusting us enough to say in the patient surveys that the carers in our community wanted a little extra help,” she said.
“The most important thing that we want you to take away from each gathering is we appreciate that it is a difficult job and at times it can feel isolated and unsupported.
“The Bush Nursing team want to feel that you trust us enough to come to us, and we can help.”

On the day, guests enjoyed a light lunch prepared by Sandra Chappel and her team at the Heritage Complex.
The Port Ice Creamery Van was also present on the day to keep guests cool with free ice-cream.
Once guests were settled in, Natasha Collinsand Ms Moran from the Lockington Bush Nursing Centre thanked everyone for supporting their Take a Break series.
Bendigo Health carer support supervisor Shona McClellan was the days guest speaker.

Bendigo Health carers support supervisor Shona McClellan was also present on the day to inform attendees about the services and resources that are available to carers.
Ms McClellan remained after her presentation to speak with guests and to answer any questions.
The series of Take a Break events were made possible through a Community Recovery and Resilience Grant from Campaspe Shire Council.
