We are so proud of what we achieve in our nursery here at Goulburn Valley Tree Group Native Nursery, with an incredible group of willing and cohesive volunteers.
This year we will have produced close to 18,000 healthy trees and plants. All our plants are native, and much of our seed is sourced locally. This means our trees and plants are particularly tolerant of our local environment. Some of these species are also significant, endangered or rare.
When these species are planted, you know you are contributing to our precious local biodiversity.
The seeds have been sown, the plants have emerged, and they are now potted up and growing on in preparation for planting out in autumn. Before sales time, they are placed in the open to harden up. This means they will adapt to the outside environment much better when planted out, so their survival rate will be much improved.
Goulburn Valley Tree Group has a long history in our area of over 40 years. Starting from a small group of people wanting to combat salinity with revegetation projects to help reduce the high water table, it was a very basic set-up with a limited range of trees and plants on the ground and an old cement mixer to mix soil for pots.
We have evolved over the years, but still with the goal to make a difference. We are growing over 80 different species, and now the goal is more about replacing the lost tree canopy, and by improving our green cover we supply homes and feeding areas for our wildlife.

TATURA LIONS CLUB
The Lions Club of Tatura, chartered on November 1, 1971 and sponsored by the Rochester Lions Club, has over 50 years of service with 22 committed members.
We meet on the first and second Tuesday of each month at 6.30 pm at the Tatura Anglican Church Hall, with a meal provided.
The club has long supported the community and local schools. Highlights include Carols by Candlelight at Mactier Gardens, barbecues and scholarships for Year 6 students, Licola Camp opportunities and a Junior Public Speaking competition.
We also run the Australia Day Breakfast, assist Tat Pedals & Steps, support R U OK? Day, man football gates, and host Bunnings barbecues.
Fundraisers include Christmas cakes and puddings, fresh trees, the Good Friday Collection and Easter basket raffles.
The club supports local emergency services, provides Lions Care Bears and runs the Skin Cancer Screening Bus.
Guest speakers feature regularly, and all funds raised stay in the local community. New members are always welcome — contact Glenda on 0411 298 113.

TATURA BASKETBALL
The Tatura Basketball Club plays an important role in the sporting and social life of Tatura.
The club provides opportunities for players of all ages and genders to enjoy basketball in a friendly, inclusive environment.
Based at the Tatura Community Activity Centre, the club supports junior competitions, giving locals a chance to develop skills, stay active and build lasting friendships.
From beginners learning the basics to experienced players competing in the Shepparton Domestic competition, the club welcomes participants of all abilities.
Volunteer coaches, referees and committee members are central to its success, reflecting the strong community spirit that defines sport.
A key focus of the Tatura Basketball Club is junior development. By encouraging young players to learn teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship, the club helps shape not only better athletes but also confident individuals.
Successes at regional tournaments and representative competitions highlight the dedication of players and coaches alike, while also inspiring younger members to aim high.
Beyond competition, the club serves as a social connection for the youth in Tatura.

Through commitment, inclusivity and passion for the game, the Tatura Basketball Club continues to be a vital part of the town’s identity and a proud contributor to local sport.

TATURA COMMUNITY HOUSE
Tatura Community House offers a wide range of skills and training opportunities for all ages in a welcoming, community-focused environment. Programs are free or low-cost, ensuring cost isn’t a barrier to learning, and provide supportive spaces for building skills, confidence and social connections.
Our Learn English classes feature small groups, personalised support and lessons tailored to everyday communication, helping participants prepare for work, further study and daily life.
For digital skills, the 30-hour Intro to Smartphones and Tablets course teaches essential online navigation, safety and communication, while Be Connected activities support people over 50 with one-on-one and self-paced learning.
We also offer a Homework Club for school children, providing free tutoring and guidance, and a Family History program for exploring genealogy.
Together, these programs reflect Tatura Community House’s commitment to lifelong learning and accessible education for the whole community.

TATURA JUNIOR SOCCER CLUB
The countdown is on! Season 2026 kicks off in early May, and Tatura Junior Soccer Club is getting ready for another fun-filled year of grassroots football.
Welcoming players of all abilities across its junior program, with teams available for Kinderoos through to Under 16s (boys and girls), plus Under 18 boys.
Whether your child is taking their first steps on to the ground or looking to build skills, friendships and confidence, there’s a place for them at Tatura Junior Soccer Club.

TATURA LIBRARY
Want to meet new people or join an activity at no cost? Need a place to catch up with friends, access wi-fi or use a computer? Not sure how to use your smartphone? The Tatura Library can help you connect — with others and with information.
Goulburn Valley Libraries has launched a new community art project, Fabulous Farms in Fabric & Fibre, celebrating local connections. The large fabric and fibre mural will depict farming communities across the Goulburn Valley, with small artworks contributed by community members.
Everyone is invited to create a piece representing what the Goulburn Valley means to them. Artworks must be no larger than 10cm x 10cm and able to be attached to a fabric background. The format is open — get creative with shape, form and materials.
Tatura Library will host a drop-in workshop on Friday, March 20, from 10am to 2pm (with a break for lunch).
The library also hosts a free monthly Craft & Coffee session. All materials, instructions and refreshments are provided, with a different activity each month. It’s a relaxed way to meet new people — or simply enjoy a cuppa and conversation.
Prefer something quieter? The library offers comfortable seating and light-filled spaces perfect for reading, working or catching up with friends. Food and drink are welcome — just take care around books and computers.
Free wi-fi, public computers and tablets (known as Hublets) are available for use in the library. Hublets include access to games, puzzles, learning apps, news and more — and you can even suggest an app.
If you need help with your own device, book a one-on-one session with a staff member. These appointments are offered monthly and bookings are essential.

GENERATIONS OP SHOP
After 18 months of planning, fundraising and community support, Generations Op Shop officially launched its food trailer, There’s Room at the Table, at the end of last year.
The team started small, hosting fortnightly events in Mactier Park to build awareness and recruit volunteers, before taking a short break.
Now, it’s back, and Tatura residents are encouraged to follow Generations Community Care on Facebook for updates on the trailer’s locations and events.
The food trailer offers simple, hearty meals such as spaghetti Bolognese, baked potatoes, tacos and curries — family-friendly, comforting meals that are easy to enjoy.
Volunteers prepare each meal in a commercial kitchen at Olive and Vine, where cooking has also become a social activity.
Jacqui Hall, the community care manager at Generations Church and Op Shop, said the free meals were open to everyone.
“You don’t need to be homeless or struggling financially,” Jacqui said.
“The main aim of these nights is to provide an opportunity to connect with others.
“If you feel like having a night off cooking, come down, bring your family, and enjoy meeting someone new or catching up with friends. We are here to build community.”
Donations are welcome but entirely optional. Events will run fortnightly on Thursday nights, and started on February 12.
