Families, friends and supporters gathered under a bright blue sky at Victoria Park Lake on Friday, October 17, for Shepparton’s Walk for Prems — part of Life’s Little Treasures Foundation’s inaugural Mighty Trek Challenge.

The event was filled with laughter, conversation and the sound of children playing, as parents, many with their ‘prems’, came together in support of families who have experienced time in neonatal intensive care.

Life’s Little Treasures Foundation chief executive Felicia Welstead emceed the morning, reminding everyone of the importance of the foundation’s work and the impact it had had over the past 20 years.

Before the walk began, families and children took part in a touching moment of reflection — blowing bubbles during a minute’s silence to honour the babies who could not be there. The gesture brought a quiet pause to an otherwise joyful day, reminding everyone of the meaning behind the event.

Speeches were shared by families who had premature babies, reflecting on their journeys and the comfort they found through the Life’s Little Treasures Foundation. Their stories highlighted the strength of community and the hope that events like this brought to others walking a similar path.

The day was one of connection, compassion and celebration — marking another milestone in the foundation’s ongoing support for families of premature and sick babies.
