Local favourites The Splinters Band will set the mood with timeless songs, joined by none other than former state member for Shepparton Jeanette Powell, who will serve as both MC and vocalist, serenading the audience with vintage tunes including Lili Marlene, The White Cliffs of Dover, We'll Meet Again and The Rose.
The Splinters Band’s set will feature wartime classics such as Wish Me Luck as You Wave Me Goodbye, Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit Bag and Beer Barrel Polka, among other favourites.
Held at the Kialla Gardens Activity Centre on Thursday, May 8 from 1.30pm, the event promises more than just music. Guests will be treated to a “delicious afternoon tea”, according to organiser Lolene James, along with raffles and door prizes — all while raising vital funds for Grutzner House and the Mary Coram Unit at Goulburn Valley Health.
The auxiliary has been raising funds since the late 1960s to support Mooroopna Hospital, formerly known as MECA, and now directs its efforts towards Goulburn Valley Health.
The group meets monthly to organise fundraising initiatives for the Mary Coram Unit and Grutzner House, with activities ranging from plant sales and community donations to fashion parades. Musical afternoons are the latest addition to its line-up of fundraising activities.
Tickets are $25, limited in number, and can be purchased from auxiliary members, Mimma’s Hair Studio, or at the door.
