Sandilands plots radio return, denies contract breach

Henderson has not been on air since the bust-up and Sandilands has been off-air since March 3.

The Sydney ratings darlings are in the second year of a decade-long, $200 million contract which coincided with a poorly received entry into the Melbourne radio market.

Parent company ARN announced it would suspend Sandilands for an act of serious misconduct but those moves and orders to stop him making up with Henderson were not constructive, he said.

"The truth is that ARN terminated Jackie's contract on the same day it accused me of a breach," Sandilands said.

"All of this happened while I was being told to sit quietly and say nothing.

"That is not a genuine process."

The on-air friction between the duo stemmed from Sandilands berating Henderson during a live broadcast, where he criticised her after she looked into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's horoscope.

"You're off with the fairies ... every segment, every time you've spoken, you don't even know what's going on," Sandilands said in his rant.

"You're not doing the rest of the job and everyone in this building has mentioned it to me."

ARN said in a statement to the ASX on March 3 that Henderson gave notice she could no longer work with her co-host and it considered Sandilands' comments a breach of his agreement with the company.

"Despite what ARN says, I am not in breach of that contract," Sandilands said.

Sandilands called for ARN to honour his lucrative deal and allow him to return to the airwaves.

"I'll be back," he told listeners

The 54-year-old has a week to remedy his breach before ARN says it will terminate his contract.

Sandilands said he sent his long-time work partner a message after the spat, admitting he could have handled the situation better.

But he claims he has been told he is not allowed to contact her or any of his other colleagues while the dispute is worked through..
