In an interview with Rolling Stone, the 33-year-old singer said she has made the decision to steer clear of sites such as Instagram and Facebook for the sake of her mental health.
"I have actually been a lot more offline. I don't really look as much any more. It's just better for my brain," she said.
"I know people probably won't believe me because I am inherently, at least in the past, a very online artist.
"But I recently have been really struggling with my mental health to the point where, if I'm being real, I'm in the worst place mentally that I've been in my life."
Charli has found herself hitting headlines in recent weeks due to the lead single from her new album Music, Fashion, Film.
In Rock Music, Charli uses distorted guitars and even makes the shock statement that "the dance floor is dead".
It's sparked speculation that the singer is reinventing herself, with some fans unhappy with that decision, but Charli said she did not listen to that conversation.
"The discourse is loud, and sometimes that can be very overwhelming," she said.
"It got to a place where my anxiety was physically affecting me, and I can't actually proceed in life like that."
While her 2024 album Brat was a worldwide smash - and sparked the "Brat summer" phenomenon - she was never planning to stick to the same sound with a follow-up.
"It's not creatively rewarding for me to make the same thing twice," she said.
"All of my albums work in opposites. They repel against each other, and that's the connective tissue."
Charli's album Music, Fashion, Film is due for release in July.
