The Australian Plants Society in Echuca is hosting its annual native flower showcase next month, displaying more than 300 different specimens of Australian native plants and flowers.

A celebration of Australian native flora will take place at the Echuca Masonic Lodge when the Australian Plants Society, Echuca hosts its annual Native Flower Showcase.

The showcase is on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9am to 3pm, featuring over 300 different species of native plants suitable for the Echuca-Moama region.
“The native plant showcase is the ideal place for people who are new to the area, or building a new home, to come to find out what natives grow best in the area, and what would suit the local environment,” Australian Plants Society Echuca president Sue Robertson said.
“The importance of native flowers in our gardens is to attract native bees, wild birds and wildlife.
“If it is an endangered species of plant, it can be carried on from being in people's gardens, where it can be preserved.”

Because the showcase is sourced from local gardens and nurseries, Mrs Robertson is unsure until the day, exactly what plants and flowers will be on display.
“It's been an unusual season,” she said.
“Things are flowering now that shouldn't be flowering, so it could be a totally different type of flower show.
“Last year, we didn't have a lot of callistemons, and this year we might have an absolute truckload of them, so you just don't know.
“Hopefully over 300 species, 300 different specimens of native plants on display.”
The showcase will feature displays from Goldfields Revegetation nursery and include a basket weaver from Rochester, along with a diorama of Eremophila and wild native flower paintings.
Entry to the showcase includes tea and coffee, and plants will be available for purchase.
