Rochester remains in the doldrums of a losing streak in Goulburn Valley League netball, dropping a sixth consecutive game against Shepparton Swans at the weekend.
Missing its first choice shooter, Tia Webb, Rochy struggled to match the Swans offensively, particularly in the first as Swans burst out of the blocks.
The Tigers’ confidence was dented immediately as the Swans reeled off the first 12 scores of the game without reply and went into the first break ahead 18-2.
From an extremely difficult position, Rochy managed to hold its own with the Swans in the second term, only slipping a couple of goals further back to trail by 20 headed into the half.
The relentless Swans continued to chip away in the second half, eventually taking the game 61-34.
Attacking duo Payton Tiller and Marli Cottam warmed into the game after the shock and awe of the Swans’ fast start and were able to produce consistently through the rest of the game, Cottam finishing with 19 goals and Tiller 15.
The Tigers will hope the upcoming bye can signify a turning point for their season, heading into a clash against winless Benalla on May 30.
