The Saints came out strong and matched Katunga early, but unfortunately a few late injuries took their toll.
It was a determined effort right to the end.

Another tough day at the office against a well-oiled machine.
Injuries and player shortages meant playing out of normal position but everyone gave their all.

The Saints took on top of the table Katunga who started red hot in the cold conditions.
Their pace didn’t allow Berrigan players to settle until mid-way through the first quarter.
Some changes at quarter time increased the team’s speed in defence, not allowing easy passage into attack.
After half-time the goal pressure increased with Lareesa Good making the most of her opportunities in goal attack.
Mia Coldwell showed speed in goal defence and stemmed Katunga’s drive.
Arlena Pyle showed consistency in wing attack, providing plenty of opportunities.

The Saints knew they were in for a challenge against a strong Swans outfit.
Cold and blustery conditions added to the intensity of the match, making it another low-scoring contest.
The Swans capitalised early, getting a quick lead while the Saints made some necessary on-court adjustments.
The defensive end worked tirelessly, applying consistent pressure and disrupting play, while the mid-court showed great speed and accuracy in transition.
In attack, the girls dug deep, working hard to earn every goal in difficult conditions.
Despite their efforts, the early lead proved too much to recover from.
It was a gutsy performance from all - no-one gave up, and the fight continued right to the final whistle.

Under-17s: Berrigan 54 def Katunga 21.
On a freezing cold winter’s day, it didn’t take long for the under-17s to warm right up. Back to full strength, this is a side full of talent.

Under-15s: Berrigan 44 def Katunga 9.
Berrigan hosted Katunga in cold and wintery conditions.
The forward line dominated, which was reflected on the scoreboard.
Evie Cameron provided the right option in the mid-court and effectively fed the ball into shooters Sophia Ruby Morgan and Darcie Smith, who were accurate and strong in the ring.
Sophie Baxter played a consistent four quarters and provided great support to both ends of the court.
The backline was strong, providing many turnovers which the team capitalised on and increased the lead as the match progressed.
Special mention to Monique Keel from the under-13s who played her first game in under-15s and slotted in perfectly, came out firing and did not hesitate to get involved from the first whistle.

The girls fought hard in a tough, close game.
From start to finish, they gave it their all with strong defence, smart plays through the mid-court, and determined shooting.
The effort and teamwork were outstanding.

Under-11s: Not scored.
Another challenging game for the young Saints, who were able to learn a lot from the stronger Katunga team.
Each week, the girls continue to step up with enthusiasm and improving skills.
It was great to have all 15 girls playing and cheering each other on.
