In an emphatic and awe-inspiring display, the Rooks made it back to back A-grade flags on Saturday as they ousted Eastern Hill for a six-wicket win.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Eagles endured a horror start as opening batter Dallas Bergowicz departed for a duck, leaving Ollie and Benjamin Bryant to dig in.
The former holed out for 10 runs while the latter looked primed for a half-century, but he was foiled 12 runs shy by Lachlan Watts.
None of Eastern Hill’s order truly fired, and though the side batted out the innings, a meek total of 8-107 left the game ripe for the taking in the eyes of Tallarook.
And that’s exactly what happened.
Second drop Leigh Irving slashed a fine knock of 46 not-out and was supported by cameos from Watts and Josh Rudge (17 each) as the Rooks cruised to the win with five overs remaining.
However, if Tallarook’s triumph was comfortable, Puckapunyal’s B-grade premiership victory was downright easy.
Puckapunyal ripped through Yea’s line-up to leave the Tigers languishing at 80 all-out, with Paul Clue (26 runs) providing the only real resistance for the visitors.
Mark Nipperess (3-17) and Bradley Buik (3-22) were the pick of the hosts’ bowlers.
From there, David McCullough was the only wicket lost as Sam Pullen (45 not-out) and Peter Macintyre (16 not-out) powered Puckapunyal to the premiership.
