With a full side and fire in their bellies, the girls came not just to play, but to win.
Coach Trent Riordan set the tone early, reminding the team of their reputation as the best tackling side in the league.
His message was clear: focus on tackling, keep the ball in the forward line, and most importantly, have fun, and that’s exactly what they did.
The team was thrilled to welcome back Alva Acocks, whose return added extra spark to an already determined lineup.
Rochester wasted no time asserting dominance, leading 2.0 to 0.0 at quarter time, and never looked back.
From the first bounce, Rochester tackled every contest with ferocity, leaving St Francis Green scrambling.
The pressure was unrelenting, and the visitors struggled to find any rhythm as Rochester kept the game tight and controlled.
Ava Rasmussen had a night to remember, slotting a sneaky goal, scrapping for every ball, and tackling with unmatched intensity, earning the Milkshake Lane Award.
Frankie Hay was electric, booting three goals and applying pressure across the ground.
Her efforts earned her the coveted Café Rochester Award.
Ella Forde showcased her trademark reliability, earning the A & L Holmberg One Percenter Award for her clean hands and smart positioning behind the play.
Willow Brooks impressed with a brilliant goal, filling space effectively and showing grit in every contest.
Coach Riordan couldn’t hide his pride after the final siren.
“I can’t be any prouder of every single one of you,” he said.
“You listen, respond, and put in 110%. A fantastic team effort.”
With this emphatic win, the Rochester Under-12 girls have once again proven they’re a force to be reckoned with.
Their tackling, teamwork, and tenacity continue to set the standard, and they’re having a blast doing it.
Well done girls.
