Chris Eeles performed much better than his Geelong Cats eight days earlier, having a near-perfect round to easily hand in the best card in at +3.
The only other player to be above par was Rochester’s lady captain, Karen Taylor, on +1.
In a five-man countback, Peter Anderson prevailed from Laurie Jackel, Graham Willis, Richard Feuk and visitor Bernie O'Hare, all on -1.
Frank Severino had a day out, winning the straightest drive on 10 and picking up the money and 16 balls for his great shot to within 30cm on the Campaspe News 12th.
Tim Quinlan hasn't been on the 9th for two shots in over 20 years; and although the markers were up and with the help of a strong westerly, it was still a great effort from the veteran left-hander.
Russ Anderson won a ball for his shot on the par 3 3rd.
Social golf was played last Tuesday. Peter Anderson, on 36 stableford points, won from Frank Severino (35) and Greg Watkins (34).
Big-hitting Shane Bywaters played near-perfect golf to win Wednesday's nine-hole event on 25 stableford points from Russell Anderson (22).
Bruce Bryant had the least putts on a countback from Bywaters (both on 12) over the front nine.
Due to the uncertainty of the current COVID-19 restrictions, the club's annual four-person ambrose charity day has now been shifted to Friday, October 1.
This and other important information will be posted on the club's Facebook page when it comes to hand.
Campaspe
Those high winds on Sunday were not conducive to great scores for Campaspe’s intrepid golfers.
Never the less, a surprised John Oakley was declared the winner of the day and the monthly medallist with a score of 105-30=75.
Then the Canavans took over; Lynne runner-up on 116-38=78.
Lynne also claimed nearest the pin on the 7th on the second shot, and putts with 32 on a countback from John O.
And just to keep it in the family John C had the straightest drive on the 4th.
Laurie Radley won the nine-hole game.
This week, all going well, the club is playing a yankee game.
