Allan Matheson Shield premier Tallygaroopna will boast an untarnished record for another week, but a Ray Hill-inspired Shepparton Park was no pushover.

Guy Madigan (33-18), Matt Robertson (19-15) and David Daws (24-19) helmed three rink wins at Shepparton Park to put the Redlegs firmly on the path to victory.
However, Parkers’ skip Hill threatened the status quo early in the third rink, at one stage holding a 15-shot buffer over opponent Mark Ryan.
Ryan eventually recovered to trim the margin to eight shots and avoid a close run to the finish line, though Hill’s 25-17 win meant Shepparton Park walked away with two points.
“We were actually down 2-17 at one stage,” Redlegs lead Russell Orchard said.
“It’s always a tough game against Shepp Park, particularly on their home green.
“We had spoken about it beforehand and we definitely didn't take it for granted.
“They’re very steady and they'll be thereabouts come finals.”
Tallygaroopna’s 16-93 to 2-77 result sees the Redlegs end round two in second spot, though the top mantle will remain Shepparton Golf’s after brushing past Seymour VRI.
The Golfers’ 16-111 to 2-61 victory was built on the back of dominant outings from Kris Ferguson (36-9) and Anthony Flapper (31-9), while Seymour’s Michael Szczykulski bucked Golf’s momentum with an 11-shot win over Brad Orr.
Elsewhere in division one, Mooroopna and Tatura-Hill Top pulled themselves onto the Matheson Shield winners’ list for the first time this season.
Bruce Anselmi (27-23) and Dan Considine (20-17) picked up hard-fought wins in Mooroopna’s fruitful road trip to Euroa, while Ken Sutcliffe flew the flag for the home side to triumph by seven shots.
Corey Turvey’s quartet was the standout performer across its 21 ends, its impressive 35-12 result powering Mooroopna past the 100-shot mark and sealing a convincing 23-shot victory in a high-scoring contest.
Tatura-Hill Top also got off the mark for the season in satisfying fashion, pipping East Shepparton 14-83 to 4-76 in a tight and competitive finish.
