It was another tough day for the A-graders, but they never stopped working hard.
A few errors during the second and third quarters were costly.
We tried a few different combinations through our mid-court, but we just could not find an easy way into our goalers.
We continued to work on what we had been at training which was good to see, but at the end of the day, Numurkah were just too strong.
Awards: Milly Op’t Hoog, Sophie White.
B-grade: Finley 42 def by Numurkah 61.
Finley had a challenging match against Numurkah, but a strong first quarter.
Our shooters all showcased their strength in the goals.
We went down by 10 goals at half-time, but that didn’t stop our defence, who were determined to integrate new defensive strategies from training to gain consistent turnovers.
With many changes in our mid-court this season due to injury, new players stepped into our mid-court with confidence.
Lilah Brunt made her debut in B-grade from 17s, as did Addie Clarke. They were also used as rotations in the mid-court.
Whenever we have needed 17s to step up into our senior grades, they have always shown determination and demonstrated that they can perform even against opponents of maturity and knowledge.
Ultimately, Numurkah were too strong for Finley, however we have shown that we can support our teammates at all levels and always be competitive.
Leadership within the team has made it clear that we are building a team for consistent future success.
Awards: Charlotte Rafferty, Gemma Plattfuss.

A great win by the girls.
Positional changes saw many of the girls play where they normally don’t and everyone adapted well.

The Cats had a slow start this week, keeping Numurkah in the game during the first half.
After half-time, however, Finley lifted their intensity, pulled away on the scoreboard, and extended their lead strongly over the final two quarters.
A few positional changes were made throughout the game, showcasing the team’s versatility - a huge positive as we edge closer to finals.
The girls finished with big smiles, proud of their efforts and excited to be one step closer to finals.
Awards: Matilda Burton, Remi Pyle.

Such a great game against Numurkah. It was a close game until the end.
We were able to create a little gap, however Numurkah never eased up on their intensity and effort.
We moved around positions and everyone played so well.
Amber Lawler got best on court as she consistently drove forward and positions ball side on the ring. She had great accuracy feeding into the ring.
Amber played the second half in shooter and didn’t miss goals, and despite being one of the smallest players on the court, got a number of rebounds.
Lucy Mueller also played very strongly in the attack to claim the other award.
She always works so well with every player who she works with. She has become an ever-reliable shooter for our team.
All girls had an amazing game and showed great positivity during the game.
Under-13s: Finley 19 def by Numurkah 25.
The girls had a very competitive game against Numurkah, and it was a nail-biter.
The girls were down at half-time, and even at three-quarter time.
Unfortunately, we ran out of steam and couldn’t get across the line.
But this game showed how much we have improved this season.
Awards: Grace Mueller, Chane Luderitz.
Under-11s: Not scored.
We had a tough start on some chilly Numurkah courts, but the team was determined to have a strong game.
Evident skilful plays were administered down the court, and the players should reward themselves for all the hard work they do at training.
