Playing at home, Rochester won the toss and elected to bat first, with all the top four batters putting in strong digs.
Craig Williams (22) and Asher Rasmussen (52) set a great platform at the top of the order before Matthew Harrington (24) and Morgan Boyack (42) took the reins.
Despite a slump in the middle order, Makore Dickinson (13 not out) and Samuel Byrnes (10 not out) steered Rochy through to the end of the innings, with L-G requiring 185 from its 40 overs for victory.
Only a fill-in player managed to have a crack at chasing down the total, scoring 26, while Trayden Torso was the next highest scorer with 11 as L-G was rolled for 99 – 86 runs short of victory.
In B-grade Goulburn, Rushworth cruised to a comfortable victory over Colbo — winning by seven wickets.
Colbo won the toss and elected to bat, with captain Hamish Hooppell (26) top-scoring alongside Xavier Hooppell (18) and Kane Moroney (14) as the side was rolled for 81, with Rushworth bowler Hamish Ogden snaring 5-20.
It took the Tigers until the 14th over to chase down the small total, as Daniel Newton (33 not out) and Michael Enrico (35 not out) made light work of Colbo’s bowling attack despite Jaxson Nihill taking 2-21 in the second innings.
Despite being sent in to bat against Moama, Elmore did well out in the middle as Matthew Woolley (54), Luke Price (38) and Tyler Oliver (28) combined alongside some other starts to finish the 40 overs at 7-189.
Elmore would’ve thought it was well placed heading into the second innings against the Mowers — until Kirk Teasdale walked to the crease.
The Moama CC president and opening bat blew the Redbacks away with an unbeaten 121 off 118 balls that included 14 fours.
While Matthew Watt (12) and Scott McCallum (16) got starts, it was James Simpson (36 not out) who partnered Teasdale to get the job done with four overs to spare.
The Gus Underwood C-grade Shield will get under way this Saturday with Rochester travelling to Girgarre for its opening game, while Bamawm-Lockington United will come up against Echuca at Echuca College.
