Former Cat Ash Cullen has returned to the club to take the reins, bringing a wealth of experience to the role.
Having played for multiple clubs in the Victorian Netball League, Cullen has most recently coached Leitchville-Gunbower across the 2021-22 seasons, winning the A-grade best-and-fairest in 2022, before spending 2023 at the Shepparton Bears in the GVL.
Cullen has wasted no time in bringing personnel to the club either, with a number of strong recruits committing to the Cats for 2024.
Echuca United pair Kate Pearson and Jess Davidson are chief among those, with the duo crossing to LBU following a finals campaign with the Eagles in 2023.
Pearson established herself as a constant threat inside the semi-circle in the Murray league, proving an accurate shooter and providing a strong option going forward, earning Echuca United’s ‘player’s player’ award last year.
She is joined by Davidson, the reigning 2023 best-and-fairest at Echuca United who captained the side to a finals spot last year, and will bring a touch of class to the Cats’ midcourt.
Lily Buckingham joins the club from Calivil United, where she captained the A-grade side in 2023, also winning the best-and-fairest, while Delaney Laffy crosses to the Cats from Moama, where she was twice a member of the B-grade premiership side.
Ellie Walsh and Heidi Robinson will also appear for the Cats in 2024, crossing from Girgarre and Golden Square respectively, while the likes of Jess Hardess and Annalesa Turner have re-signed for another season at LBU.
Having won just one game in 2023, the Cats are looking to rise up the ladder in 2024 and will be presented a golden opportunity to start the year on a positive note when they face Leitchville-Gunbower, the only side they defeated last season, in round one.
