Round three of the Murray Valley Football League saw Cobram devastate Echuca United by 92 points, finishing 105 to 13.
With victory in mind, Cobram ran out on to their home pitch and were fast out of the gate in the first quarter, scoring 22 points to Echuca’s six.
By half time, Echuca had added a mere point to their score, finishing the quarter with seven points to Cobram’s 31.
However, the third quarter saw Cobram pull ahead decisively, dominating the game so much so their Echuca guests remained scoreless in the third.
The game was a foregone conclusion by the start of the fourth.
However, it didn’t stop Cobram from adding insult to injury, piling on another 42 points.
A total of 30 goals were kicked by Cobram.
Cobram’s Jackson Trengove kicked seven goals and Hunter Verhoeven scored three.
Trengove and Verhoeven were declared Cobram’s best for the game, along with Fergus Pinnuck, Mitch Ward, Samuel Beasley and Luca Allen.
Cobram coach Tyron Baden was naturally ecstatic about the results.
“It was really good,” he said.
Baden said the Cobram team shone in the second half, noting the first half was more competitive.
“The first half was a bit of an arm wrestle, and they (Echuca United) put a lot of defenders down back,” Baden said.
Though Cobram rejoiced, there were no celebrations across the causeway in Barooga.
The NSW side faced off with Nathalia and ended up worse off for the experience, falling by 79 points, 145-66.
