January Ladies Competition.
Our Friday competition started with six teams competing for the next 10 rounds.
It was pleasing to see that our novice bowlers are enthusiastic, making up the teams, being very competitive and enjoying themselves.
The day was extremely warm and by the end of play the heat was taking its toll on the players.
The Moons started off against the Nights in fine form, being 9-2 up after six ends and still holding the lead by 16-7 after 12 ends.
Then they only managed to score on the last end to finally lose 20-17.
A great comeback by the Nights.
The Suns jumped out of the blocks against Venus winning the first eight ends and lead by 15-0.
The Venus realised they could get the bowl close to the kitty and started clawing back the deficit, but the lead was too great and had to concede victory 20-14.
Jupiter were playing Plutos and although at the end of the day both teams had won nine ends, the score did not indicate that.
When Jupiter scored they had big numbers in the head and Plutos could only manage to win the end with the final score being 26-17 to Jupiter.
Jane McCallum played very well and showed why she was champion of the club.
Teams are selected for next Friday and are in the clubhouse for everybody to see.
Check that you are playing.

Two rounds remaining before the final play-off.
In the latest round of CVBD Weekend Pennant we had both division three and four record victories.
Division three accounted for the visiting Elmore combination for the early 9am start to beat the heat.
All rinks were up to score a 59-41 win. (Ian Johnson d. K Brooks 20-14; Ray Hanson d. W Goodear 22-11; Russell Shawcross d. C Williams 17-16).
In the division four match against City of Echuca, the result was in doubt right up until the final bowl.
With two rinks finished and scores level, the Ken Main - John Simpson game resulted in a real heart -stopper.
Main was fortunate to pick up two shots on the second last end to lead 19-17.
On the final end there were at least eight bowls within the yardstick and there was some doubt as to which team held the shot.
When the final bowl was delivered it was revealed that Lockington held the one shot to win the game 20-17 and the overall result was a closely fought 58-55 win (Ken Main d. J Simpson 20-17; Frank Chugg d. G Kerr 21-18; Kalvin Stout lost to J Blair 17-20).
