On Tuesday, February 11 President’s Day was a charity day for “Blaze Aide”.
The winners were Janis Tamburini, Carol Cakebread and Yvonne Smolenaars.
Runners-up were Jane McCallum, Jeanette Kneebone, Gwenda Coghill and Kaye Barker.
The raffle winner was Janis Tamburini.
Today, the ladies will play drawn fours.

Kits Cafe Award went to Janis Tamburini, Carol Cakebread, Marg Harley and Di Milgate.
60 and over bowls was at Moama (Anniversary Day) on Wednesday, February 12.
The runners-up team included Graeme Chambers, Gavin Houlihan, Graeme Whitehead and Bruce Kneebone with two-and-a-half wins.
Winner was John Ryan’s Moama team.
On Wednesday, February 19, we will play at Ky Valley View with a 10am start.
The second round of the Ladies 100 Up is to be played by February 23.
The Ladies 21 up is complete with L. Bond defeating J. Tamburini in the final.
Mid-week Pennant
Rochester’s ladies were just pipped in both divisions by second placed Echuca.
Division 1 v Echuca at home: Lyn Moon, Lorraine Bond, Jenny Major, Janet Rankin (lost 20-32); Marg Knight, Jane McCallum, Jeanette Kneebone, Mary Burrow (won 33-24); Denise Pappin, Heather Curnick, Rae Ault, Yvonne Smolenaars (won 22-20).
Rochester lost overall by one shot.
Next week we will be home to Mathoura.
Division 2 v Echuca at home: Serena Sholl, Aileen Fiedler, Elaine Hall, Sandra Watkins (lost 24-32); Cheryl Anderson, Trish Costello, Val Gledhill, Ev Nichol (won 33-21); Janis Tamburini, Carol Cakebread, Heather Wilson, Di Milgate (lost 22-29).
Rochester lost overall by three shots.
Next week we will be home to Elmore.
Men’s 100 up rounds are continuing with G. Houlihan, A. Benson, H. Moon and A. Crilly already through to the third round which must be played by March 8.
Rochester’s mixed pairs championship is up to the third round.
Mens 21 Up draw is up to round 3 to be completed by March 1.
Rochester men’s pairs is almost complete with P. Holzer/R. Clayton through to the final and will play against the winner of B. Jones/B, Major and G. Willis/A. Benson.

Rochester lost overall by 56 shots.
Winners of the Criterion Hotel meal deal were Anton Gusak’s team.
Next week divisions 1 and 3 are away to Echuca while divisions 2 and 4 are home to Echuca.
Lockington
The women enjoyed fine conditions for a game of triples on Tuesday.
The winning trio comprised Trish Jones, Annette Brereton and Lorraine Appleby (s) with all bowlers on song.
In the CVBD Pennant the overall results did not flatter the club’s intentions.
The women played Rich River away and returned home a little worse for wear with no winning rinks in the 33-99 loss.
Rink details: Lois Chugg lost to J. Hocken 7-44; Margaret Davis l.t. P. Stiles 16-25; Lorraine Appleby l.t. V. Noar 10-30).
In the weekend round of pennant the club hosted the division two and division four teams from Moama.
Division two kept pace against their stronger opponents for the majority of the game but failed to take advantage on a couple of ends towards the end of games.
The final result was a 50-68 loss.
Rink details: Jim Harris l.t. G. Thornley 16-22; Ian Johnson l.t. N. Varcoe 19-20; Graham Turner l.t. R. Young 15-25.
The division four teams battled gamely in their clash against Moama in an effort to hold down their position in the top four.
However, it was not to be as their opponents applied the pressure after the break to win the match 73-60 and left us with a half a rink win.

With this loss, we have plummeted to fifth spot on the premiership ladder and ten points behind Mathoura who collected maximum points and shots up against Rochester.
With just one round remaining, our season may lie in the "lap of the gods" as we play top team Rich River.
Last Tuesday evening, the final night of the three games series of sportspeople bowls was played.
With an increased field of 42 players the general play was competitive as there were four two-game winners.
On the night, the team of Phillip Cunnington, Wayne Thomas (Mitiamo) and Micheal Lyons (s) were victorious ahead of Ian Scurrah, Nigel Riordan and Joe Holloway (s).
Due to the popularity of the series another three-night series has been organised for February 25, March 3 and March 10.
Everyone is welcome — flat sole shoes or barefoot and bowls are available.
Several teams played the 60 and Over Anniversary day competition at Moama on Wednesday.
Two members in Phillip Cunnington and Les Brereton were judged best lead and skipper on the day.
There was a fine gathering for the Friday evening cold meat and salad practice session with Phillip Cunnington winning the lucky members jackpot draw.
Get well wishes are extended to Kath Palmer who is recovering from surgery.
On Sunday, the Bendigo/Campaspe Regional 60 and Over singles and pairs finals were played at Moama Bowling Club on a true running green.
The Bendigo division ruled supreme as they made a clean sweep of all matches.
In the ladies state singles, Susan Howes from Kangaroo Flat proved too consistent for Marrilyn Stephenson to win the game 21-12.
Stephenson battled gamely to stay in the game but her opponent was able to thwart any challenge.
In the men’s state singles, Ivan Hicks (City of Echuca) was pitted against Phil Godkin (Eaglehawk) and this game was similar to the ladies singles match.
Godkin managed to open a slender lead in the early stanza while Hicks had some close bowls but could not manage to score any multiples.
Godkin eventually won the clash 21-12.
The ladies state pairs resulted in a 15-11 victory for the Bendigo East pair in Judy Davies and Helen Clough (s) against the Deniliquin pair of Fay Munnerley and Jill Grimshaw (s).
This game was even with good bowling from all concerned as they went end for end, before the Bendigo East pair won consecutive ends to open up an 11-5 lead which they were able to maintain and win the game.
The men’s state pairs was held after the lunch break as Ivan Hicks was to combine with Phillip Thorn (s) City of Echuca and do battle against the Inglewood pairing of Geoff Wilson and Lindsay Kelly (s) representing Bendigo Division.
This game produced some excellent bowling as both teams traded ends.
The pair from Inglewood were able to eventually break the shackles and move out to a 12-4 lead.
Hicks and Thorn suddenly won a couple of consecutive ends to trail 11-15 on the final end.
They managed to pick up a single to finish up losing the contest 12-15.
All winners will travel to the Bowls Victorua State Championships in April to be held at the Bendigo and Bendigo East Bowling Clubs.
60 and Over
The Campaspe Valley amd District 60 and over Bowls group held their Wednesday weekly bowls and anniversary day at the Moama Bowls Club.
A total of 28 teams, consisting of 112 bowlers played on their indoor and outdoor excellent greens.
Playing three games of eight ends, only one team won three games and they were from Moama.
They were John Ryan, Bob Gills, Brian Hill and Barry Barbary.
The second team was a Rochester team who won two games and a draw, they were Bruce Kneebone, Graeme Whitehead, Gavan Houlihan and Graeme Chambers.
Members of both teams received a chook each.
The next 60 and over bowls is at Ky Valley View Golf and Bowls club on February 19 with a 10am start.
This club has had a problem with their greens so I hope they are well supported — it is limited to 28 teams.
