The Chiefs have been on one of the most eye-catching spending sprees in NRL history ahead of their foundation season in 2028, signing Jarome Luai, Brian To'o, Alex Johnston and Joey Manu among their seven official recruits.
The NRL's 19th franchise is inching closer to a deal for Cooper Bai, the son of Kumuls legend Marcus, who arrived in Port Moresby earlier this week for talks with the club.
But the Chiefs, who have been linked to Gold Coast fullback AJ Brimson, have yet to sign a fullback.
And if Morea has his way, he hopes Chiefs football manager Michael Chammas won't have to go to market.
"I want to have a good World Cup, that's one of the reasons I wanted to play was to get myself in contention to be the No.1 for the Chiefs," Morea, 25, told AAP.
Morea is one of three homegrown PNG players, along with utility Finley Glare and Jarome Luai-lookalike five-eighth Gairo Voro signed on development deals with the Chiefs in 2028.
All three currently ply their trade in the English second division with the London Broncos, the club where Kumuls coach Jason Demetriou is in charge and Brisbane legend Darren Lockyer is a co-owner.
Morea, who missed the back half of the season with a serious hamstring injury, scored 29 tries in 19 appearances.
"I'm really looking forward to having a good World Cup," Morea said ahead of Saturday's clash with Samoa.
"I think I started off a little bit slow last week (against Lebanon), but I'm looking to get back to my game this weekend.
"Hopefully I can send a message that I can be that (the fullback) for the Chiefs and then have a good year if we (London) go up to Super League and I can keep putting my name up there and knocking on the door."
Morea shone in last week's 42-18 defeat of Lebanon and even against a Samoan side stacked with NRL stars, he is bullish about PNG's chances on Saturday.
Victory on home soil would put the Kumuls on the cusp of their first World Cup semi-final berth in the country's history.
"I think a lot of people have written us off but we don't worry about Samoa, we worry about our side and what we can do," Morea said.
"It's going to be huge and I've read that it's sold out and we've got a lot of players who can win the game and the chance to challenge them."
