Multiple mobility scooters stolen from aged care facility

Three elderly people have been left without a way to get around after their mobility scooters were stolen from a Shepparton aged care facility.

One mobility scooter was stolen from Wintringham Tom Fitzgerald residential aged care facility at 55 Wyndham St in the early hours of Monday, May 18, while another two were taken about 4.20am on Wednesday.

All three had been parked outside the residents’ rooms in a communal outside area at the facility.

Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Nathan Berryman said the thief, or thieves, had jumped a gate that was more than two metres high to get into the facility, and then opened the gates and drove the scooters out.

All three mobility scooters were red.

The mobility scooters stolen on Wednesday were a Pride Pathrider branded scooter and an Invictus Impreza branded scooter, and were owned by people aged in their 80s.
