The Tigers — missing six regular players — had a strong showing against the Murray League finalists on Saturday, according to coach James Flaherty.
‘‘We probably started off a bit slow,’’ he said.
‘‘Once we got past that initial trouble we were all able to really get on top of the game.
‘‘It was a good opportunity to have one last block of match conditioning for the players. As a group everyone is getting into a really strong position, they look fit and ready to go as we approach round one.
‘‘We weren’t at 100 per cent on game day.
‘‘We had maybe six of our regular players missing, but we will have those players back come round one and should be at full strength.’’
Rochester’s 2019 season begins with a home game against Echuca.
