The spill risk in the Murray system is yet to be declared, while the Goulburn and Campaspe systems enjoy low spill risk status.
Northern Victoria resource manager Mark Bailey said a declaration couldn’t be made while Lake Hume remained close to 99 per cent capacity.
“Releases from Lake Hume to manage inflows during December 2021 may influence the January 2022 seasonal determination for Murray low-reliability water shares,” Dr Bailey said.
“A low risk of spill cannot be declared while that potential influence exists.”
The spill risk will be reassessed on February 10.
Currently only 68 Gl of net trade is allowed from NSW into the Victorian Murray system to keep the risk of spill in Victoria’s share of both Hume and Dartmouth below 50 per cent.
