The special guest at this year’s carols will be Benalla international country and western singer Wayne Horsburgh, who will perform at the event.
Wayne has performed around the world, including at Wisconsin, where he played in front of 60,000 people over a weekend.
The Benalla Rose City Band and Benalla P-12 College Band, along with Benalla Theatre Company singers, will lead the community singing the Christmas carols.
As always, Carols by Candlelight will be held in front of the bandstand in the Benalla Botanical Gardens.
Lions carols co-ordinator Graham Milner said guests were welcome to bring a picnic rug, or seat, and enjoy the atmosphere.
“Santa has been arranged to arrive early in the evening to greet the young children; parents are invited to take a quick photo if they wish,” he said.
The event is free to enter and all are welcome.
The carols will finish at about 9.30pm.
This event has been conducted by the Benalla Lions Club for over 60 years.
