IN RECENT weeks, students at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School have had many opportunities to be a part of the wider Elmore and parish community.
The term started with all students participating in the Cluster Cross Country at the Elmore Events Centre. Everyone showed that their training had made an impact on their stamina and there was great sportsmanship shown by all attending. We wish the seven students from OLSH who qualified for the Division event good luck for Friday, May 17.
Cross Country was followed by a fabulous turnout at the Elmore Community RSL Anzac Day service. It is important that we keep the story of the Anzac Spirit alive for our children and our students. Thanks to all those who attended the day and marched from Railway Square.
Five students received the Sacrament of Reconciliation as part of the parish mass on Saturday, April 27. It was a lovely celebration that concluded with the students being involved in various parts of the mass.
The Elmore Health and Wellbeing Team hosted a Mother’s Day afternoon, which was attended by the Elmore Primary School, Shine Bright Preschool, OLSH, mothers, grandmothers, aunts and even some dads. All were encouraged to participate in a variety of activities varying from craft, reading, massages and active games. At the conclusion of the afternoon everyone enjoyed some healthy lunchbox snacks.
Finally, Rivalry Day at OLSH was a great success. Each year on the Friday before Elmore plays Mounts, OLSH students choose to dress in red and white or navy and white. It is a bit of fun for all. This year students enjoyed cupcakes for morning tea decorated in their team colours. There were also cupcakes for the umpires.
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School is an enthusiastic part of the community and we are thrilled to be involved on many different levels.
