Moderate rainfall was observed across Central Victoria overnight Thursday into Friday.
Bureau of Meteorology rainfall figures for the 24 hours until 9am Friday, showed Shepparton had 8.8mm, Strathbogie had 15.2mm, Mangalore 20mm and Benalla 9.8mm.
Further moderate to locally heavy rainfall is forecast across parts of Gippsland, North East, Central, South West and North West Victoria from Friday into the weekend.
This rainfall has the potential to cause minor to isolated moderate flooding across the flood watch area from Friday and through the weekend.
Catchments across the flood watch area are moderately wet and may respond quickly to rainfall.
VicEmergency said the location, intensity and timing of this forecast rainfall was highly uncertain, and the rainfall focus may shift to other areas of the state as this event progressed.
VicEmergency said catchments likely to be affected include:
- Broken River
- Seven and Castle creeks
- Goulburn River upstream of Lake Eildon
- Goulburn River Eildon to Seymour
- Goulburn River downstream of Seymour
- Upper Murray and Mitta Mitta rivers
- Kiewa River
- Ovens and King rivers
Impacts in the area include that caravan parks and camping grounds may be flooded, as well as areas around rivers and streams.
At 2pm Friday, the Goulburn River was at 0.94m LGH at Lake Eildon 1.14m at Trawool, 1.52m at Seymour, 0.73m at Murchison, and 3.17m at Shepparton.
The Seven Creeks was 0.73m at Polly McQuinns, 1.25m at Euroa and 1.77m at Kialla West.
The Castle Creek was steady at 12.57pm at 0.11m at Telfords Bridge, and 0.38m at Arcadia at 2pm.
At 1.40pm on Friday, the Broken River was steady below minor flood level at 1.63m at Benalla, 0.75m at Gowangardie Weir, and 1.70m at Orrvale.
