The plan provides residents with a practical resource to help prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies.
Developed through the LEAPing into Safer Communities initiative, a partnership between Greater Shepparton City Council and Strathbogie Shire Council, the plan draws on input from the Ruffy Tablelands Steering Group, residents, emergency services and Council.
Resilience project officer Fiona Feldtmann said the LEAP reflects the strength of local knowledge and community involvement.
“This is the seventh LEAP developed by Council, and I'm incredibly proud of the communities that have taken the lead in creating their plans,” she said.
“Local input is what makes these plans truly effective.”
Strathbogie Shire Mayor Scott Jeffery said the plan would help strengthen emergency preparedness across the area.
LEAPs are community led plans that help individuals, households and communities prepare for emergencies while supporting planning at local, regional and state levels.
