Saturday was a day filled with pride, culture, and community connection for Jerilderie.

For the first time, Jeithi Jerilderie Aboriginal Corporation and the Jerilderie Football Netball Club combined to host an Indigenous Football Netball Round.
Joining in on the important celebrations were players and supporters from the Mathoura Football Netball Club.
With all three flags - the Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait flags - flying high, the event began with a heartfelt Welcome to Country delivered by Aunty Barbara Browne.
Throughout the day, merchandise produced by Gillespies Sports and featuring artwork by local artist Sos Hawkins was available for purchase.
The vibrant design was also featured on the jumpers worn by the senior footballers and the A-grade netball dresses, adding a strong cultural presence to the games.
The day’s activities continued with moving smoking ceremonies held before the A-grade netball and senior football matches, both accompanied by the soulful sounds of the didgeridoo, performed by Ben Curphey.
Tradition was honoured with an exchange of gifts between team captains before both teams took to the field and court for spirited, competitive matches.
The evening wrapped up with an auction of a signed football guernsey and netball dress, followed by live performances from Scar Tree and Dookie Thorne.
Guests also enjoyed delicious food from Rub N Smoke, rounding out a memorable day.
As well as thanking event partners from the football netball club, Jeithi Jerilderie Aboriginal Corporation said thanks must also go to Origin, Murrumbidgee Council, Barbara and Michael Browne and Turning Point for their support.
“It was a truly special occasion, bringing the community together to celebrate and honour Australia’s rich and beautiful Indigenous culture,” the organisation said.
