The gift was a cheque for $50,000, allowing REDHS to buy a transport bus for its hospital.
REDHS chief executive Karen Laing said the money would greatly help Rochester residents.
“We lost a bus in the flood, so we’ve been trying to get a new one that’s disability accessible,” she said.
“We’ve also received funding from a couple of other parties, but this money will allow us to purchase it outright now. It’s already been ordered and we’re just waiting for it to arrive.”
Getting this sort of support since the floods has been really moving for Ms Laing.
“It’s just great that this far down the track, people haven’t forgotten that Rochy is still struggling. These sorts of things do really mean a lot,” Ms Laing said.
“It means a lot to us as an organisation and I know to the rest of the community, it’s just amazing.
Great Postie Bike Adventure participant and event co-ordinator Dick Phillips said it was great to be a part of it.
"It’s amazing how the people from within the community come to help in those times of disaster and then for a long time afterwards,” he said.
“When we had a meeting six months ago about where we’d like to put the money, we thought that in a small community like Rochy, $50,000 would go a fair way to helping them out with a new bus.
“It's a pleasure to be able to do it.”
