The event draws a large crowd, with many visitors and stall holders eager to put on another fantastic event in Rochester.
“The RBN (Rochester Business Network) is excited to be bringing back the twilight Christmas market after having to cancel last year due to the floods,” a spokesperson said.
“We believe hosting these events is important to the revitalisation of Rochy for economic growth and community spirit.”
The market is also a chance for the many talented local businesses to showcase their wares to the broader community.
“We encourage local and surrounding community members to come along to the market, do some Christmas shopping, sample the delicious food options available and enjoy the free activities for kids and adults alike,” a spokesperson said.
While an annual event, the Christmas market is also a critical part of local businesses’ strategy to attract new customers leading into the new year.
“Our local hospitality venues have a significant increase in patrons on the night, as well as our CBD traders with special Christmas sales and promotions,” a spokesperson said.
“It is an important event for our local economy.”
Gillies and Mackay streets will be closed to ensure everyone has a wonderful time exploring all the market offers.
The market attracts many visitors from around the region and further afield.
“Thousands come from around the local areas to attend from Bendigo, Echuca-Moama, Kyabram, Shepparton and beyond,” a spokesperson said.
“We have over 50 stall holders this year from the local and surrounding areas, mainly selling handmade, homegrown/made produce, with many skilled craftspeople in attendance.
The market will feature a variety of quality market stalls, delicious food options and free kids’ activities such as the jumping castle, petting zoo and a visit from Santa.
The Christmas market is on Friday, December 8, from 5pm to 8pm.
Stall fees are free for RBN members, with non-members paying a small fee of $40 to $60, depending on size.
The RBN is open to taking on new members that will grow and support future events.
