Vice-president for the Rochester Lions Club John Atley has worked hard to bring some of Australia’s most respected athletes to the town’s night of nights that will feature Melbourne Cup winner Michelle Payne, Netball champion Sharelle McMahon and Peter ‘Spida’ Everitt, just to name a few.
“We have some extraordinary athletes who will be attending the event, and it will be an incredible night for young and old,” Mr Atley said.
“Despite the past floods, the community are a tight-knit bunch, and we always stand together through all adversities.”
The Saturday, March 16 night from 6pm will also involve some of Australia’s most significant sporting identities that wish to raise the town’s profile.
According to Mr Atley, the money raised from ticket sales will go to the upkeep of the Rochester Sports Museum and other community projects, which are yet to be announced.
The Rochester Sports Museum and the Rochester Lions Club present the event to bring an unforgettable evening.
“It will be a fantastic night for the town of Rochester,” Mr Atley said.
“I think an event like this will remind the region, particularly Rochester, just how resilient we are.”
“Unluckily, all the tickets are sold out, so anyone fortunate to be able to purchase a ticket will have an excellent night.”
Most of the items are due to the hard work and dedication of National Promotion’s Manager, Puma John Forbes, who worked with the company for many decades.
Over many years, Mr Forbes built and maintained relationships with some of Australia’s most respected athletes who donated their items, which made Rochester’s Sporting Museum.
Tickets for the show have been on sale since February 5 and cost only $140.00 per person.
As of Thursday, February 8, all the tickets have been sold.
