J Finnerty’s was the only winning rink with a score of 23-12, while G Haines’ side lost 15-20 and N Barnes’ side went down 16-19.
Despite these individual results, the club overall won 53-51 and now sits in fifth spot on the ladder.
Division 4 saw R Wise and his team win 19-17, B Anderson’s rink lost 17-21, and B Ferry’s side secured a strong 20-8 win.
This gave the team a 56-46 victory, and pushing them up to second on the ladder.
Losing players in the off season has made it challenging for selectors to find the winning formula.
Please be respectful of their decisions, as it is not an easy task.
This Saturday, Division 2 is playing at home against Wunghnu, and Division 4 is at home against Cobram 5.

The first round of A-grade singles match-ups saw B Smith play G Haines, B Ferry versus D Carter, D McKellar versus J Malone, and S Johnson versus R Poore.

Berrigan
Blustery conditions made it a challenging day on the rinks for Berrigan on Saturday, with both divisions playing away.
Division 1 travelled to Numurkah Golf and went down 68 shots to 41.
The best rink for the day was skipped by Rob Tucker, with Ged Towler, Matt Hannan and Robert Lillis, who fought hard but lost by just two shots on the final end.
Division 3 played Barooga, where the home side proved too strong, defeating Berrigan 66 shots to 39.
It was great to see Rob Beard back in action for Division 3.
The best rink of the day went to Hardy Rennick’s team of Chris Stock, Joe Cottam and Mary Curtin, who led early before narrowly losing 21-19.
Several Berrigan players played again at Numurkah on Sunday, in the Rowland- Sutcliffe Challenge.
Rachel Glanvill was selected to play with the Murray women’s team.
The Murray team won overall, defeating the Goulburn Valley women 68-53.
Rob Lillis and Paul Glanvill played in the men’s side, who also had a win against the Goulburn Valley 72-59.
All divisions will be back on home turf next Saturday, hoping to make the most of home ground advantage.
Barefoot Bowls continues tonight, with eight teams taking to the rinks over the past two weeks.
Everyone is welcome to join in; no experience necessary.
Cost is $10 per player, which includes a sausage sizzle.
Tocumwal
Three of Club Tocumwal’s bowlers, Rodney Brown, Judy Harvie and Cheryl Mears, were part of the Murray Playing Area winning ladies’ and men’s teams.
They competed against the Goulburn Valley Playing Area in the Rowland-Sutcliffe Challenge, held Sunday, at the Numurkah Golf & Bowls Club.
The ladies’ team won all three of their games, with the men’s team won two of their three games.
Saturday Pennant recommenced after the Melbourne Cup weekend break, with losses for all four teams.
Division 1, in an away match, went down to second placed Strathmerton, 67-81, with Club Tocumwal in 6th position.
Division 2 had a narrow loss to Finley 1, 51-53, coming close to their first win for the season.
Division 3 tried hard but couldn’t defeat top of the ladder and undefeated Picola 1 at home, losing 54-70.
Division 4 also played at home, losing to Finley 2, 46-56.
