Federation Council employees are happy with the near-completion of the Apex Park Mulwala Project, with the shade structures over the new fenced off playground structure and refurbished barbecue area in the background.
A project with a focus on improved safety and accessibility at Lake Mulwala Pool, Apex Park Mulwala and immediate surrounds is nearing completion.

The project addresses several key issues, including safety of users, accessibility for those with impairments and/or access needs, connectivity between the pool, playground and facilities, and enjoyment.
Refurbishment of the existing public toilets and installation of connecting pathways between the pool, playground, barbecues and public toilets have taken place.
Improved barbecue accessibility, landscaping, irrigation, park furniture and seating are now apparent; shade structures in the park/grassed area and over the existing playground and provision of public litter bins are also features. Installation of lighting has been installed.

Replacement of safety railings and entry ladders will be undertaken, together with the installation of a disability access ramp into the pool, site and safety fencing, updated safety and instruction signage.
Federation Council was successful in obtaining a grant related to the Open Spaces Program - Places to Swim, after the Department of Planning and Environment invited all councils across NSW and eligible NSW Government agencies to apply for the funding.
The Places to Swim program is about connecting people to water and supporting the health and wellbeing of our community.
“It’s a fantastic project, for kids and adults, all abilities,” Mulwala-based council employee Mark House said.
“People can come down here and enjoy the beautiful scenery – it’s a place to be.”
Cr Andrew Kennedy agreed. “It’s a special place,” he said. “It’s great to see something done.”
Unfortunately, there is nothing good to report on the inoperable waterslide which was a great attraction years ago.
