Tap and go public transport is coming to regional Victoria with new myki readers to be installed along the Echuca train line.

Previously, travellers in regional areas have used paper or electronic tickets.
The myki system will allow regional travellers to tap on and off with a myki card, a bank card, phone or smartwatch.
V/Line services will still allow users to reserve seats.
The readers will be switched on later in the year.
The myki system began allowing the use of bank cards, phones and smartwatches last month on train and tram lines in Melbourne, and will expand to bus services later in July.
Half-price public transport fares will remain in place until the end of the year, saving regular commuters over $850.
