The community came together on Friday, June 13, raising $1800 for Cancer Council Victoria.
For the Good of Devenish Committee president June Howard said the group does not set a fundraising target, aiming to bring in as much as people can afford to give.
“We were really excited to get $1800,” she said.
“We had people come from all over, not just Devenish, and it was really wonderful.”
Ms Howard said the highlight for the committee was seeing all the attendees chatting, laughing and enjoying themselves.
More than 60 locals attended the 2025 Devenish Biggest Morning Tea.
“The committee made all the food, and people seemed to like it,” she said.
Having been on the Devenish calendar for a quarter of a century, the event is something local people look forward to.
“We didn’t do anything specific to celebrate 25 years,” Ms Howard said.
“But we had great help from council. Jane Archibold’s SIAG (social inclusion action group) team supported us, and we were very honoured to have them help.”
Ms Howard thanked everyone that made the event a success.
“We’d like to thank the community, the visitors and Benalla Rural City Council.”
Ms Howard said the committee is already looking forward to planning the town’s 26th annual Biggest Morning Tea, in 2026.
