Mayor Adrian Weston said while much of the previous local law was now covered by Governance Rules, which are also out for community consultation, the new draft Local Law was confined to the use of the Common Seal affixed to documents authorised by the council, a Delegated Committee or the Chief Executive Officer.
“The preparation of this Local Law ensures that council meets its statutory obligations under the existing Local Government Act 1989 and the new Local Government Act 2020,” he said.
The community is now invited to make submissions on Local Law No 1 Use of the Common Seal.
“If any submitters wish to speak in support of their submission, a submission hearing will be held on Tuesday, August 4 at 5 pm at the Echuca Civic Centre Function Room,” Cr Weston said.
The Local Law will be considered for adoption on Tuesday, August 18 at 5 pm, taking into account any submissions received.
Written submissions must be received by 5 pm on Thursday, July 30.
