The AED is a publicly accessible defibrillator attached to the front wall of the petrol station/newsagency in Foord Street, Wahgunyah.
The Wahgunyah Progress Association plan to organise training in its use through engagement with community groups such as the Wahgunyah Senior Citizens Association and the Corowa Quilters who hold regular meetings at the Wahgunyah Community Centre.
The members of the association work together to identify projects to make the town a better place in which to live.
Wahgunyah Progress Association member Alan Pleitner said the group was very appreciative of Club Corowa for providing a much-needed resource for the local community.
“The grant enabled us to purchase and install the defibrillator so that it is now available in time of emergency to all persons in or passing through Wahgunyah,” he said.
“Wahgunyah had a population of 1061 at the time of the last census in 2021. Of that number 293 listed as having long term health conditions with the number of people in nine out of 13 categories in this section being in excess of the Victorian and Australian average.”
ClubGRANTS is one of Australia’s largest grant programs, providing more than $100 million in cash each year to a variety of worthy causes across NSW.
Charities, sporting organisations and not-for-profit community groups are among tens-of-thousands of worthy causes funded through the program each year.
With more than $1 billion in funding provided since the program’s inception, ClubGRANTS is without doubt one of the largest and most effective grants programs in Australia. The program is made possible through the support of NSW clubs, local councils and the NSW Government.
