The Lucky Local campaign, launched by Greater Bendigo City Council, will see four winners drawn daily.
Each winner will receive a $250 voucher when they spend $20 or more at participating independent businesses.
Mayor Thomas Prince said the campaign was designed to support independent businesses across the municipality.
“The Lucky Local campaign has been developed to support independent businesses across the region and boost local spending,” he said.
“We have passionate local retailers, producers, makers, suppliers, cafes, restaurants, hotels, unique attractions and a variety of services on the list of participating businesses.
“With vouchers up for grabs every day in July, there’s a strong incentive for residents to shop locally this winter.”
The four Elmore businesses currently participating are Elmore Newsagency, Campaspe Run, Molly & Max and Elmore Vintage Emporium.
To enter, shoppers must spend at least $20 in a single transaction at a participating business and upload a photo of their receipt on the council website.
There is no limit on the number of entries, although a new receipt is required for each submission.
Mr Prince said supporting local businesses delivered benefits that extended beyond individual stores.
“When you support local businesses, you are helping businesses to grow, retain and create jobs,” he said.
“Local businesses bring vibrancy and activity to precincts, suburbs and small towns, which is great for our community and keeps more spending in Greater Bendigo.”
Winners will be announced each weekday morning on Triple M’s Cogho & Jules for Breakfast program and contacted directly by council.
The campaign is part of council’s ongoing Love Your Local initiative and runs until noon on July 30.
Independent businesses across Greater Bendigo can still sign up to participate in the campaign.
