The ‘Pink Bloom Party’ will be held at the Cobram Uniting Church Hall later this month, with afternoon tea, games, raffles and more.
“For a couple of days, this fundraiser just kept popping up in my Facebook newsfeed and I thought ‘this a sign that I need to get out there and do something’,” Connie said.
“I thought it’d be nice to do something for a good cause, get people involved and make a nice afternoon of it.”
Connie said she had been “very lucky” to receive help from her daughters, nieces and the wider community, making organising the event much easier.
“Businesses in town have been absolutely amazing and so supportive when it comes to donations and things. I’ve just been blessed with that,” she said.
Guests are encouraged to dress in pink, with a prize up for grabs for best dressed.
There will also be games, raffles and a lucky door prize, giving attendees plenty of opportunities to get involved.
Connie has also made a lollipop tree, with guests invited to guess how many lollipops it holds. The person who guesses closest to the correct number will take the tree home.
A question-and-answer session will also give attendees the opportunity to hear from people who have been affected by breast cancer.
Connie said Cobram Party Hire had donated a photo booth so everyone would be able to have photos taken and make memories of the day with their friends.
“One of my friends that is helping me has donated a massive artificial cherry blossom tree, which is going to be our ‘hope tree’,” Connie said.
“On a little card people can write the name of someone that has been affected by breast cancer or passed away and they can even write a little note on the back and hang it on the tree.”
The Pink Bloom Party will be held on Sunday, October 25, at 2pm at the Uniting Church Hall, 10 Hay Ave, Cobram.
With only about 30 tickets remaining, those wishing to attend are encouraged to secure their tickets soon.
