Registrations are now open for Clean Up Australia Day, which will take place around the district next week.
Campaspe Shire Council regulatory and community services general manager Paul McKenzie said Clean up Australia Day events are great opportunities to show your community pride by cleaning up local parks, bushland and waterways.
“Eight million tonnes of plastic enter Earth’s oceans each year, with much of this washed in via rivers and waterways,” he said.
“Litter carelessly thrown away by a small minority of people damages the health of our native flora and fauna and spoils the visual appeal of our beautiful region.”
“Everyone is welcome to join the Community Clean Up Days, running in Rochester, Kyabram, Echuca, Wharparilla, Rushworth and Stanhope from February 26 to March 1.”
