ELISE Anderson is known as the girl at IGA with waist-length hair, but every now and then, she will cut it all off and start again.
This time, she is doing it for the Leukemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave.
She first got involved when she was 12, dying her hair red, but this time she is going all out and will shave her head if she raises $3000 by February 21.
Initially, she was just going to cut her hair, but a regular customer convinced her to take on the challenge.
Elise is nervous for the big change but knows she will look back and be proud of what she did.
“Cancer sucks, so if I can raise money and help anyone that would be really good,” she said.
Her donated hair will be used to make wigs for financially disadvantaged children who are suffering from long-term medical hair loss, through the US charity Locks of Love.
Donations can be made online through Elise’s Facebook post on the Rochester Community page, or cash donations can be given directly to her when she is at IGA — she works from Friday to Tuesday.
