Ballendella Red Cross celebrated its 60th anniversary on Thursday with cake, awards, speeches and afternoon tea.

And those who attended were lucky enough to be joined by three original surviving members: Dos Hanson, Margaret Griffith and Mavis James, who already have Laurel Reefs for 50 years of service.
Dos says that while she may be the oldest member whenever she attends, she’s happy to still be a part of such a vital service.
“We’ve done quite a bit over this time, we meet every 12 months," she said.
“We’ve all worked together, and it’s been good. Over the time we’ve gone around and collected for the Red Cross, for the March Appeal and we’ve sold cow tails."
Also attending were secretary Judith White, chairman Julie Webb and treasurer Kath Bubb.
