ANOTHER stalwart of the mural festival is Ellsworth Overton, who has been at every one since the festival began.

The Ringwood artist said he enjoyed the northern Victorian heat, which was the perfect climate for an afternoon siesta before getting back to work.
But it’s also the sense of community that keeps him coming back.
‘‘The people of Rochester are so friendly and so is the group of artists — each time we come, all we need to bring is our brushes,’’ he said.
‘‘I like the small-town atmosphere, which I just don’t get in the city. I grew up in a small town in Canada — it was a real western town.’’
Ellsworth is well-versed on the theme of ‘our country life’, taking his inspiration from locations along the Murray.
‘‘It’s more the feeling of what you want to do to take a break while you’re up the river. It’s just a relaxing feeling,’’ he said.
‘‘I’m looking forward to coming up (this week) and seeing everyone again — and we’re also exhibiting in the old courthouse so I’ll be bringing up as many works that will fit in the Volksy.’’
