Wood was denied bail for a second time in Queensland Supreme Court on Friday, after being deemed an unacceptable risk as he fights serious charges of domestic violence, including strangulation.
His barrister Paula Morreau KC had argued the couple was effectively already separated, as she proposed him being bailed to live with his father Andrew Wood in Tasmania.
She argued Wood was at risk of spending a longer period on remand than any eventual non-parole period would be, if he was convicted.
Justice Patrick McCafferty rejected those arguments in dismissing the application.
He said he was not satisfied Wood did not pose an unacceptable risk to the safety of Snezana and the community.
The judge said the case against Wood was "not a weak one".
He described the allegations in detail, including that Wood shut a door between himself and Snezana and her daughter Eve Markoski-Wood while they were on holiday at Noosa on October 3.
"The witness heard the complainant's voice becoming muffled and could hear what she described as gasping," he said.
"It is alleged the applicant grabbed the complainant by the throat and pushed her against the wall.
"She felt his grip become tighter. It's alleged the complainant couldn't breathe anymore and couldn't yell out for help."
It was alleged Wood told Snezana and her daughter they could both die.
"I do consider the applicant presents a risk of committing an offence on bail, or endangering the safety or welfare of the persons claiming to be a victim, or of interfering with the witnesses," Justice McCafferty said.
"I am not satisfied that the proposed conditions can ameliorate that risk to an acceptable level."
Wood was not required to appear in person or by video link during the hearing.
The court was told he had effectively split from his wife, who he met on the set of reality TV show The Bachelor, as his partying, drug and alcohol use was aired.
It was also told of an earlier allegation Wood had previously seriously assaulted his wife.
Ms Morreau said those allegations remained untested and lacked witnesses.
"It is, in my view, evidence that is credible and trustworthy and on this application I take it into account in assessing this risk," Justice McCafferty said.
He also denied Wood's application for a non-publication order in relation to the earlier allegations.
Ms Morreau argued the high level of interest in Wood's case had resulted in journalists intruding upon private residences and speculating on the family's financial status.
"Last time I checked, privacy wasn't a reason (for suppression) in this jurisdiction," Justice McCafferty said.
Justice McCafferty accepted submissions by the Crown that the pattern of Wood's alleged behaviour made him an unacceptable risk to Snezana and to others.
Prosecutor Jessica Guy told him strangulation was seen as a predictive risk factor for escalating domestic violence offences, including homicide.
Wood conceded his lifestyle was notable for partying, drug and alcohol use and his relationship with his wife was prone to periods of volatility, the court was told.
Wood earned a national profile as a star of The Bachelor's third season in 2015, launching a successful home fitness business 28 By Sam Wood.
He reportedly sold it in 2022 for more than $70 million but remained the face of the online platform.Â
The platform was rebranded on Thursday as evvr, removing all references to Wood.
Wood's fall from grace has been mirrored by his social media numbers, with his followers on Instagram falling from 253,000 when he was arrested to 229,000.
In contrast, his wife's followers on the platform have jumped from 330,000 to 339,000 during the same period.
Wood has been on remand since his original bail application was refused in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on October 8.
