Alleged Aussie drug kingpin arrested in Lebanon

Australian Federal Police said the man was arrested after an Interpol Red Notice was triggered by Australia for drug trafficking and money laundering-related offences.

He is suspected of brokering and organising multiple drug shipments to Australia on behalf of a wide range of criminal syndicates from around the world during the past 11 years.

The 42-year-old was one of a "significant number of people" arrested by the Lebanese Internal Security Forces with intelligence provided by the AFP, police said.

Some of those detained include men with alleged criminal links to Australia.

He is expected to face legal proceedings in Lebanon for drug trafficking and money laundering offences.
