Lockington’s Corner Block, a gift from Brendan and Leanne Pentreath, was launched late last month — realising a four-year dream by the community-focused couple.

A free sausage sizzle and ice cream saw children and adults alike enjoy the day.
A plaque thanking Brendan and Leanne for the gift of land was unveiled by Brendan; unfortunately Leanne was unable to attend.
This all started about four years ago when Leanne and Brendan first offered Lockington District Business Centre the land to develop as a space for young people.
Many ideas were floated before the idea of a pump track came up.
Leanne had been keen to get Lockington a skate park for many years, so a pump track seemed appropriate.
The pump track was ordered in November 2019, a four-month delivery turned into seven months (with the track coming from Sweden), with COVID-19 also causing delays.
The track was set up just prior to the Christmas holidays last year.
There were some very excited children across Lockington.
Landscaping was next on the list, getting water supply from the channel was a bonus, thanks to the channel committee and the amazing support from Ward Bros.
It was a five-month process to get permits and water eventually arrived on June 25, 2021.
The committee planted shade trees (thanks Nicko for digging the holes and picking up the trees) and engaged GreenAzz Turf and Irrigation to do the landscaping and here we are today with this lovely area for all to enjoy.
This all happened because of a generous gift from Leanne and Brendan.
Along the way there have been many people to thank for the help they gave: Grant Humbert; Wickhams; Action Club members: John Eade, Grant Hall, Tom Eade; and other community members: Steve McIntyre, Brendan Pentreath, Ken Sims, Ged Giddings; members of LDBC committee; and Leanne with her Bobcat all helped with the installation of the track.
A mural competition was then held in May with six entrants excelling with their works.
The murals were painted over four days in the Community Hall, thanks to the hall committee for making this possible.
The Campaspe Shire had given a Creative Active Recovery Grant of $5000 for the running of the competition and the Lockington District Business Centre provided the prizes.
Campaspe Shire Major Chrissy Weller presented the prizes to overall winner Joyce Dempsey of $1000 and junior winner Jessie Hall of $500.
Locky vouchers were presented to other artists Kathy Connors, Di Giddings, Maryanne Jenkins and Jill Conway as a thank you for their participation.
The murals are on the block of land owned by Telstra and we appreciate them giving permission to use this area.
Thank you to Phil Standford and Neil Taylor for assisting the LDBC Committee members erecting the murals.
