Rayner was a firestarter in the Lions' qualifying loss to the Cats, kicking three goals, including back-to-back contentious free kick goals in the square that fired up the Geelong faithful.
He leaned in to the villain tag and celebrated in front of the Cats' cheer squad when he kicked his third - earning boos every time he went near the ball for the rest of the game.
Rayner appears destined for a similar reception at the MCG on Saturday, albeit from a lower percentage of the crowd, but teammate Dayne Zorko expects him to handle any heat.
"Well, no doubt they'll probably come at him again," Zorko said.
"But Cam will just be Cam. We don't tell him to be anyone different or do anything different.
"He's got plans in place, and he'll do what he needs to do to help the team get the result."
At his best, former No.1 draft pick Rayner can turn a game in Brisbane's favour in mere seconds, like in last year's preliminary-final win over Geelong.
Rayner shrugged an AFL record eight tackles in the semi-final win over Gold Coast and kicked two definitive third-quarter goals in the preliminary-final victory over Collingwood.
His infectious enthusiasm can also help energise his teammates.
"Yeah, when it's channelled in the right way, yeah, definitely," Zorko said.
"Hopefully he can do the same again on Saturday."
The Lions landed in Melbourne on Wednesday afternoon and will train at Princes Park on Thursday.
That session looms as D-Day for co-captain Lachie Neale to prove his fitness for a miracle return from a calf strain, and for fellow midfielder Jarrod Berry to prove the shoulder he dislocated against Collingwood is up to scratch.
The Lions have had to take the long way around to the grand final after losing to the Cats first-up.
But Zorko was adamant there was still plenty of "juice" left in the tank.
"You've always got juice on grand-final week, mate," he said.
"This is the spot you want to be. This is the game you want to get up for.
"We've had two pretty good performances in grand finals as a group.
"We'd love to make it a third, and we'll focus all our energy in making sure we can do so on Saturday."
