The British singer will on Tuesday deliver pre and post-race performances at Flemington, promising a slew of his radio-favourite hits.
Speaking to media on Monday, Williams said he always looked forward to coming to Australia having been wholly accepted and embraced by fans.
"I'm in Melbourne - It's kind of my spiritual home," he said.
"I get very excited when I'm coming to Australia."
Williams revealed he had misheard the horse name Shockletz as "Chocolates" and because it matched the colour of his suit, he was tipping the mare to win.
"I'm whacking a load on it, and sorry to my wife and the boarding school fees for the kids," he said.
Williams will get fans in the mood with a performance in the Mounting Yard ahead of the race, including a host of hits and a full cast of backup dancers.
"The 'mounting yard' is what they used to call my house," Williams joked.
After the final race fans can continue to sing along during an hour-long performance including crowd-favourites Let Me Entertain You, Angels and She's the One.
The performance will be Williams' first in Australia ahead of his BRITPOP World Tour kicking off in Adelaide on Saturday.
