The legendary 77-year-old musician was expected to be discharged from a hospital in St Louis, Missouri, on Tuesday.
However, he is still being treated as medics investigate possible cardiac-related issues, and he is now expected to be released on Wednesday, according to TMZ.
According to the outlet, the four-time Grammy winner asked his team to bring on a chair as he finished Saturday's gig at The Muny in St Louis with a rendition of his signature song, All Night Long.
Shortly after the concert, Richie checked himself into hospital to get some tests done and was treated in the intensive care unit.
The next show on his Sing a Song All Night Long Tour is set for September 26 in San Francisco.
In July, Lionel returned to the stage following a health scare that brought the opening week of his tour to an unexpected halt.
According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, he had been performing Dancing on the Ceiling during the opening night of the tour in St Paul, Minnesota, when he began to feel dizzy and took a seat on stage before leaving the performance early.
Richie resumed his show in Pittsburgh following the postponement of scheduled performances in Chicago, Illinois, and Columbus, Ohio, after doctors advised him to rest.
Before returning to the stage, promoters announced Richie had postponed two performances after receiving medical advice to rest.
