Registrations have opened for the 11th annual Premier’s Active April campaign.
The campaign encourages Victorians of all ages, abilities and fitness levels to do 30 minutes of physical activity a day during April.
Rochester and Elmore District Health Service (REDHS), Campaspe Shire Council, Echuca Regional Health, Kyabram District Health Service, Njernda and Community Living Respite Service have already signed up for a friendly Active April competition.
To support local community members to get on board and participate, REDHS will be holding a stall at the Rochester Town Market on March 23 from 9am to noon.
A variety of local groups and businesses will be promoting their services and delivering fitness expos at the stall on the day.
REDHS diabetes educator Ash Watson said he hoped the day would get people participating in Active April and promote physical activity in the area.
“It’s a great opportunity to get involved and there are plenty of perks that come with signing up,” he said.
“The campaign is great for general fitness and building habits for a healthy lifestyle.”
Registration for Active April is free and everyone who signs up will receive 10 free YMCA gym passes or access to a participating local government facility, as well as plenty of fitness incentives and discounts.
Participants this year will also have access to the ‘Get Active Workouts’ video series through an app, which features 30 different 10-minute workout ideas to inspire and motivate participants of all ages and abilities.
